to WCW (I)-

after all that writing

I

am disappointed

you couldn’t work

through the mystery of gender

as you did the rose and pink

locust // the poet

revolution of stateside idiom

sunny forever before

by the woodthrush and ever after

in the act of brushstroke

details of red winter hat blue

in it the devil // in you the missing rune

Ehwaz and a bush in bloom

women are not so different

you were simply addicted

. . I know something

about it in

a different way than you

could have // if you

could have watched porn scrolled

through tinnitus inducing

sixsecondvidoes

maybe you would have

come

to a different conclusion // sister memories

of greeny asphodel // if you are a poet

and a shadow in the silly world of history

then so too a wan or woman

Italicized lines are taken from the poetry of William Carlos Williams
